New Slovenian Art (NSK)

The New Slovenian Art (NSK) was a multidisciplinary artists' collective founded in Slovenia in 1984 to address the country's social and political history. Formed during a time of upheaval, the collective consisted of four groups: the painters' collective IRWIN, the music and multimedia group called Laibach, the theater collective NOORDUNG, and the design group New Collectivism. Together they addressed the complex relationship between culture and national identity and had a significant influence on subsequent Eastern European generations of artists, especially in the areas of activism and collectivism.
