AKhRR/ AKhR
The Assotsiatsiya Khudozhnikov Revolyutsionnoi Rossii ("Association of Artists of Revolutionary Russia"), or AkhRR for short, founded in Moscow in 1922, pursued the goal of showing the everyday life of the working class, the peasantry or the Red Army after the revolution in a realistic and documentary manner in their works. The members adopted a rejectionist stance towards Futurism and other modern currents and saw themselves stylistically committed to academic realism, which had already shaped Russian painting in the 19th century. In 1928, the AkhRR was renamed Assotsiatsiya Khudozhnikov Revolyutsii ("Association of Artists of the Revolution"), AkhR for short, and was dissolved by Stalin in 1932 along with all other art and literary groups.
