Jeff Koons
1955
The American Jeff Koons, born on January 21, 1955 in York/Pennsylvania, is one of the most successful artists in contemporary art. His works fetch top prices on the international art market. As early as 2013, the approximately three-meter-high work "Balloon Dog (Orange)," created in 1994-2004, was auctioned off for the then record sum of $58.4 million. This record and the title of "most expensive living artist", which was temporarily taken away from Jeff Koons by the British artist David Hockney, will be renewed in May 2019: His gleaming steel sculpture "Rabbit" from 1986 will be auctioned for 91.1 million US dollars, making another work by Jeff Koons the most expensive work by a living artist to date.
