Founded in 2007, JTHAR is a nonprofit organization that supports an international community of artists by providing time and space to create within the remarkable landscape of Joshua Tree National Park. The residency welcomes artists at every stage of their careers and across all disciplines—including drawing, painting, photography, film, video, installation, writing (fiction and nonfiction), interdisciplinary practices, social practice, and architecture. Residents receive stipends, housing, and dedicated studio space, all designed to foster creativity and innovation. Through this support, JTHAR empowers artists to shape culture, reimagine connections, and offer new perspectives on how we engage with each other and the world around us.
