PROVENANCE: Christie's South Kensington, Photographs, May 21, 2010, lot 4; A Distinguished New York Collector, acquired from the above. LITERATURE: Hall (editor), Photography Year Book 1958, Photography Magazine Ltd, pl. 59. The caption explains: 'He was meant to put on an act to show customers how like a funny human a monkey can be, but he sat there in a humble and dignified way and suddenly there were monkeys all around.'
