Lot Details
Keisai Eisen (Japanese, 1790-1848) Landscape Map of Mibu River, Jigoku Dake, Benzaiten Bridge, circa 1820 Surimono woodblock print 7-3/8 x 10 inches (18.7 x 25.4 cm) (sheet, chūban) Signed: Keisai Eisen; with the artist's red ink seals Property from the Nelkin Collection HID12401132022 © 2024 Heritage Auctions | All Rights Reserved
Print presents well. The condition of the work is consistent with its age. Mild toning appearing even throughout the sheet. Mild accretions along recto edges; moderate accretion verso edges; likely due to vestiges of adhesive along edges from previous mounting. Mild handling dents, primarily evident under raking light. A few scattered, isolated foxing marks. A small (1/4") repair/stabilization in upper left quadrant within the middle ground mountain range. Mild handling dents with some light creasing as well as a vertical fold line along the right 1/3 of the sheet. Unframed. No tears or unrepaired losses observed.
