Thomas F. Dinesen (Danish, 1872-1979) Selected Studies of Karen Blixen's Farm and Its Inhabitants, Kenya 1921-1925 (11 works) 11 gelatin silver prints. each approximately 7-1/2 x 9-1/2 inches (19.1 x 24.1 cm) or the reverse. Along with two vintage prints by Thomas Dinesen, Karen Blixen's brother, being offered elsewhere in this sale, this group of 11 prints depict Blixen's daily life at her farm in Kenya and provide us with an insight into her inspiration for her 1937 memoir Out of Africa. The images formed part of an exhibition at Messums, London, which took place in May-June, 2021. Images are as follows: Untitled (children sitting in front of Karen Blixen's house) Untitled (Karen Blixen's farm at the foot of the Ngong Hills) Untitled (Karen Blixen walking by the dam) Untitled (Karen Blixen with her dogs) Untitled (Karen Blixen at her desk) Untitled (Safari diary) Untitled (Karen Blixen's mother Ingeborg Dinesen having tea) Untitled (Karen Blixen's mother Ingeborg Dinesen and Kikuyus in front of the house) Untitled (Kikuya Moran Outside the Farm) Untitled (Tribal gathering) A portion of the proceeds from this Auction will be donated to Aprile's Memorial French Bulldogs Special Needs Support Services. Aprile's Memorial French Bulldogs Special Needs Support Services, Inc. is organized exclusively for charitable purposes within the meaning of section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code and the New York Not-for-Profit Corporation Law. EIN: 99-1580540 This charity is devoted to the prevention of Special Needs and Handicapped Dogs, with a special focus on French Bulldogs from being abandoned, surrendered to shelters and rescues and from being euthanized because of their vulnerabilities. Through the charity's Stop And Think Educational Outreach Program and its Support Services Program they are improving upon the quality of life of dogs with special needs, providing support to the people who care for them and saving them from being euthanized. Aprile's Memorial French Bulldogs Special Needs Support Services is named after Audra Allen's sister, Aprile, who passed away unexpectedly. Each a neutral toned print on glossy, mid/double-weight paper, some trimmed to edges, others with narrow margins. Few very minor imperfections through the group – minute dings, tiny creases etc., all visible under closest inspection only. All in very good condition overall. Sold unframed, but in mats.
