Born in Wyoming, McGary's early interest in casting led him to study under Harry Jackson and later train in Italy with master craftsmen, helping define his signature style. Upon returning to the U.S., he worked in New Mexican foundries before opening his own facility, thus ensuring the meticulous quality that became a hallmark of his work. McGary pushed the boundaries of bronze sculpture, incorporating intricate detailing, vibrant patinas, and historically significant storytelling. His ability to merge historical accuracy with breathtaking detail set a new standard in bronze artistry, earning him national recognition. Over the years, McGary's oeuvre expanded to include monumental public installations and museum-quality pieces. Relentless Pursuit was just the beginning of a legacy that continues to influence contemporary Western sculpture today, and Heritage is excited to bring this significant work to the auction block.
