Lot Details
Signed and editioned 1/2 in pencil, verso.
Bunny Yeager (American, 1929-2014) Bettie Page on the Beach, 1954 Gelatin silver print, printed later 10 x 10 inches (25.4 x 25.4 cm) (image) 14 x 11 inches (sheet) Signed and editioned 1/2 in pencil, verso. From the collection of Grapefruit Moon Gallery That Bettie Page pout is the star of the show in this bold pin-up image captured by Bunny Yeager in 1954. The shoots between the two introduced the world to a new side of Page, that was freer and more personal than the bondage work she did with Irving Klaw. The connection between Bettie Page and Bunny Yeager would prove enduring. Yeager helped Page keep connected with her fan base in her later years, and the name recognition Yeager had due to the pairing helped lead to her gaining the critical acclaim that had overlooked her for much of her career. Towards the end of Yeager's life, she would receive celebrated exhibitions at galleries in Florida and beyond, and a museum exhibition at the Warhol Museum in Pittsburgh, PA. For these, Yeager reapproached her earlier work as works of fine art, creating museum quality exhibition sized prints such as the one seen here. Overall excellent condition. Some soft creasing in the margins. Faint lines that resemble mat rubbing along top edge of the right corner. Sheet is loose, not framed.
