Lot Details
Signed and editioned 5/10 in pencil, verso.
Bunny Yeager (American, 1929-2014) Bettie Page with a Plush Cheetah, circa 1954 Gelatin silver print, printed later 15 x 15 inches (38.1 x 38.1 cm) (image) 20 x 16 inches (sheet) Signed and editioned 5/10 in pencil, verso. From the collection of Grapefruit Moon Gallery The fierce persona of "Jungle Bettie" is softened in this rarely seen interior boudoir view that shows Bettie Page with a stuffed wildcat quite possibly picked up as a souvenir at the Africa: USA park where she shot her iconic photoset with live cheetahs. An important view from one of the most significant pairings of artist and models in pin-up history. Toward the end of her life, Bunny Yeager found the critical acclaim that had overlooked her for much of her career, with celebrated exhibitions at galleries in Florida and beyond, and a museum exhibition at the Warhol Museum in Pittsburgh, PA. For these, Yeager reapproached her earlier work as works of fine art, creating museum quality exhibition sized prints such as the one seen here. Overall excellent condition. Bumps to the corners. Sheet is loose, not framed.
