Technique: Watercolour, ink and pencil on beige paper.
Mounting: Mounted in mat.
Measurement: 30 x 20.5cm.
Frame: Framed.
Certificate:
Antoine Salomon, Paris, 29th October, 1978, available in original.

Provenance:
Private ownership, Germany.

Antoine Salomon sees in the present drawing a draft of the programme for the 1890-91 theatre season of the Théâtre-Libre in Paris. The Théâtre-Libre was a theatre movement based in a theatre in the 18th arrondissement of Paris, founded by André Antoine in 1887. Its aim was to revitalise the performative arts through realistic productions and the presentation of works by young naturalist authors.

The programmes and posters designed by artists such as Ibels, Vuillard, Signac, Willette, Toulouse-Lautrec, etc. were realistic and often sarcastic, reflecting the free spirit of the repertoire and dramaturgy of the Théâtre-Libre.
