- A circular shape that appears weightless and, in line with Geiger's understanding of art, is capable of becoming a source of energy. - The circle has been at the center of his work since the late 1960s. - For the first time offered on the international auction market (artprice.com). - Rupprecht Geiger's paintings are in many important collections, including the National Gallery in Berlin, the Museum Folkwang in Essen, and the Lenbachhaus in Munich.
LITERATURE: Rupprecht-Geiger-Gesellschaft, Städtische Galerie im Lenbachhhaus, Munich (ed.), edited by Pia Dornacher and Julia Geiger, Rupprecht Geiger. Catalogue raisonné 1942-2002. Gemälde und Objkete, architekturbezogene Kunst, Munich 2003, no. 547 (illustrated in color on p. 200)..
Private collection, North Rhine-Westphalia
In very good condition. A professionally retouched spot is visible under UV light in the lower left margin and in the upper corners. These are not visible in daylight.
