Lot Details
Oil on canvas. Monogrammed and dated bottom right. Titled and inscribed “004083” verso on the stretcher. 156.5 x 188 cm.
[AR].
- Typically gaudy figurative interior scene in a Sixties style by the autodidact Anton Henning. - Formerly part of the collection of Hollywood producer David Manilow. - In addition to paintings, the artist also creates walk-in “interiors,” such as the bistro of the Arp Museum (2004) or the Museum of Art Lucerne (2003). - Henning is considered one of the most important contemporary German artists. His works are part of international museum collections, such as the Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles, or the Stedelijk Museum voor Actuele Kunst, Gent.
Entwistle, London (with the label on the reverse). David Manilow
In good condition. A small adhesion is in the center-right, probably from the making. With an unobtrusive color abrasion in the upper left corner (approx. 1x1cm), it is only visible in close-up and does not noticeably impair the overall impression. The condition report was compiled in daylight to the best of our knowledge and belief and with the help of an ultraviolet light source.
