據原藏者憶述，林氏當年西裝革履，操流利法語，氣宇不凡。其寓所裡有一房間，桌上堆放著兩種不同尺寸的畫作。畫家告知政府上年要求他把作品漲價兩倍，小幅作品漲至三百元，大幀的漲至六百元。原藏者最終選購本幅。離華後，輾轉遷居各地，亦隨行攜帶，珍愛有加，舊裱仍存。

上款：「捷成夫人」即漢雅各捷成（Hans Jacob Jebsen，1921-1979）之夫人，其父乃丹麥商捷成洋行創辦人之一。該行一八九五年於香港成立，二十世紀初業務即遍及上海、廣州等各大城市。漢雅各捷成畢業於漢堡大學，一九四七年赴港承家業，主理公司船舶建造、船運等業務。他與林風眠相識，嗜其畫藝，入藏不少。本輯8041-8044皆直接購自畫家，復由家族遞藏。
