Lot Details
Pen and India ink drawing. Titled “Szene am Zürichsee” and dated by a hand other than that of the artist on the reverse, inscribed by Florian Karsch with the Galerie Nierendorf acquisition number “E71-745 / 72”. On creme wove paper. 15.6 x 22 cm. , the full sheet.
[KT].
- Created in Switzerland, Kirchner's adopted home and creative refuge since 1917. - A playfully light scene on Lake Zurich, captured with great graphic finesse. - Kirchner is the great draughtsman of the “Brücke” artists: his works are translations of the spontaneous, immediate and emotional experience of reality.
We are grateful to Prof. Dr. Dr. Gerd Presler for his kind expert advice.
LITERATURE: F. Dörling Auktionen, Hamburg, auction on November 30, 1996, lot 931 (illu.).
Kornfeld und Klipstein, Bern (1971). Galerie Nierendorf, Berlin (acquired from the above in 1971, until 1973). Private collection Northern Germany (acquired in 1996)
Good overall impression. Sheet slightly creased and slightly wavy in the center right. The upper edge with expertly mended paper losses.
