Shortly after leaving Esquire, the artist released his own "Varga Girl" calendar through Varga Enterprises publishing company. However, within a few months of its release, Esquire had distribution halted, citing copyright infringement. This is a unique example from one of the significant turning points in Vargas's long career. When published, the calendar appeared with the caption: "December snows are on the ground, the wolves are getting bolder; I'm glad I'm getting lots of gifts, 'Cause I'm also getting older."
