Lot Details
Totoya Hokkei (Japanese, 1780-1850) Mount Fuji and the Island of Enoshima from Shichiri Beach, circa 1821 Surimono woodblock print with gaufrage and silver mica 8-1/4 x 7-1/8 inches (21.0 x 18.1 cm) (sheet, shikishiban) Signed: Hokkei Property from the Nelkin Collection HID12401132022 © 2024 Heritage Auctions | All Rights Reserved
Print presents well with lovely gaufrage details. The condition of the work is consistent with its age. Sheet is backed. Mild toning to the sheet. Mild accretions primarily evident along edges due to handling. Mild handling dents with some light creasing throughout the sheet. Some sparseness in areas with mica pigment evident along lower edges and corners, likely due to handling. Vestiges of adhesive and hinging along verso edges; a partially removed adhesive label, verso lower left. Unframed. No tears or losses to the sheet observed.
