Edward Donald Storms (American, 1924 -1987) Mimsy Borogove Bronze with brown patina 19-1/4 inches (48.9 cm) high on a 1-3/4 inches (4.4 cm) high wood base Initialed along the lower edge: ES Bears title on the bottom of the base: Mimsy Borogove PROVENANCE: Private collection, Dallas. Edward Donald Storms, born in Brady, Texas, in 1924, transitioned from U.S. Air Force fighter pilot in WWII to acclaimed sculptor with a unique artistic vision. After studying at Texas Christian University in Fort Worth, where he initially gained recognition as an award-winning photographer, Storms shifted his focus to contemporary art. His mentorship with renowned Texas sculptor Charles Williams in 1961 proved pivotal, guiding him towards sculpture as his life's work. Mimsy Borogove, one of Storms's captivating bronze pieces, exemplifies his imaginative approach, blending organic forms with an enigmatic, almost mystical presence. This work reflects his fascination with the fantastical, drawing viewers into a realm that feels both familiar and otherworldly.
