Gil Elvgren (American, 1914-1980) Group of 2 photographs used for Napa Auto Parts calendar, 1960s Gelatin silver prints 10 x 8 inches (25.4 x 20.3 cm) (sheets) PROVENANCE: Charles Martignette; Grapefruit Moon Gallery, acquired from the above; Private collection, acquired from the above. The two prints in this lot were used as studies for Elvgren's Golfing Girl painting that was used in the Napa Auto Parts calendar. These prints also include Elvgren's fingerprints and paint splatters, likely from when he was painting the original work. Overall very good condition. Curling to the edges, spots of paint and ink through the pair of prints, however not necessarily a condition defect given that they are the artists fingerprints. Scattered creasing in the images visible in raking light. Sheets are loose, not framed.
