One of 250 numbered copies: bound in remarkable white batiked velvet with a bold abstract design, most probably the work of Agatha Wegerif, the Art Nouveau designer and teacher (1867-1944). Wegerif was a leading Dutch batik artist, painter and director of the batik workshops for Arts and Crafts school of the Nederlandsche Kantwerkschool. She made canvases, wall hangings, rugs and other textiles with plant and animal motifs in a distinctive Art Nouveau style. Wilde's article was first published in the Fortnightly Review for February
