Art Abstrait
Art Abstrait is a group of abstract painters founded in Brussels in 1952 that existed until 1956. The group united artists who were interested in artistic innovations in the field of abstraction, who wanted to exchange ideas with each other and exhibit together. Over time, two different directions developed within the group, which ultimately led to the dissolution of Art Abstrait. On the one hand, there were the Constructivists, who advocated their principles of strict composition. On the other hand, there were the lyrical abstract artists, who ascribed the highest importance to freedom in the process of creating their works.
