The London Group

The London Group was an association of avant-garde artists founded in 1913 with the aim of promoting public awareness of contemporary visual art through annual exhibitions. The London Group was formed in succession to the Camden Town Group and united them with other icons of modern British art of the time, such as the painters of the Bloomsbury Group and representatives of Vorticism. As an exhibiting society, the London Group explicitly positioned itself against the Royal Academy and remained a significant force in the art of the English avant-garde until the 1930s.
