Funk Art is a primarily Californian art movement that developed during the 1960s and 1970s as a reaction to abstract expressionism. Within the Funk Art movement, sculptural design predominates; inspired by popular culture, unusual materials and techniques are used. A key feature is the incorporation of found objects from consumer culture, which are brought into a new aesthetic context.
