The Romantic mindset emerged in literature and philosophy. Here, the art-theoretical foundation was created, which was later taken up by the fine arts, especially in the fields of painting and graphic art in the search for a new art. The choice of subject matter in Romantic art is characterised by a new view of nature and the world, a reflection on religion or history and the subjective sensations and feelings that are triggered by this.
