Neue Secession

In 1910, after considerable inconsistencies within the Berlin Secession, a group of Expressionists split off and the Neue Secession was founded. The painters pursued the goal of offering the very latest in art and did not feel understood within the circle of the Berlin Secession. They strove for a successive liberation of painting and practiced a more radical approach to color and contrasts. The New Secession in Berlin existed until 1914 and contributed significantly to the establishment of Expressionism in Germany.
