With the Fluxus movement, art took to the streets and broke with all conventional notions of art and creativity in general. The experimental art movement can best be described as a state of mind that sees every everyday action as worthy of art. During a Fluxus event, the improvisational and spontaneous predominate, the action is staged through theatrical and musical means and, in contrast to the happening, is performed in front of a passive audience.
