The Blaue Reiter is an expressionist interest group that formed around Wassily Kandinsky (1866-1944) and Franz Marc (1880-1916) in Munich from 1909. The group aimed for a revolutionary re-evaluation of the arts without pretending to have a particular style. One of the main concerns was to show the diversity of art, which is reflected in the pluralism of form and style of the avant-garde movement.
