Pictorialism is an international aesthetic movement that dominated photography in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The main concern of the pictorialist movement was to establish photography as a fully-fledged artistic medium. The atmospheric art photography was inspired by the trends in painting, such as naturalism, impressionism or symbolism.
