Espace

The artist group Espace (French for "space") occupies a special position within geometric abstraction after 1945. The artists' association, which existed from 1951 and can be seen as the successor to the Abstraction-Création group, tried to find its way into all areas of society through the fields of architecture, painting and sculpture. In terms of design, they were oriented towards the art concept of traditional geometric abstraction in the sense of the Bauhaus, Constructivism, the De Stijl group and Neo-Plasticism.
