In 1960, the neo-expressionist artists' group Vision was formed, whose conception of art made them pioneers of the Neue Wilde in Germany. The artists opposed the assumption that figurative art was retrograde and that only abstraction was contemporary and strove for a new creation of the image in the sense of expressive representational art.
