He is undoubtedly the best-known street artist in the world: Banksy. His stenciled graffiti in public spaces first appeared in 1999, initially in Bristol and London, then potentially everywhere. An artist presumably of British origin, Banksy the street artist uses the means of communication guerrilla and adbusting to create works with simple, yet very pointed imagery full of wit and irony. Banksy sprays his socio-critical comments against war, fascism, racism and consumerism on houses and walls, he directs the view on the political incapacity, the refugee crisis or environmental pollution. Banksy's graffiti exposes the absurdities of modern civilization and causes astonishment - and delight - worldwide.
