Notation: Signed and dated lower right: Bernard Schultze 91. Additionally verso signed, dated and titled on the lower right: Bernard Schultze 1991 ‘Jean-Paul's Postille’.
According to the artist’s handwritten catalogue raisonné, the work was originally intended to be the right-hand panel of a triptych. The panels subsequently became independent works of art; the panel in question is incorrectly listed in the catalogue raisonné as having been destroyed.
The work will be included under number 91/94/2a in the catalogue raisonné currently in preparation. We are grateful to Dr Herrmann for her kind support.
