Im Gegensatz zu Bisons in Öl gemalten Venedigveduten zeigen sich seine Werke auf Papier – wie auch der überwiegende Teil seiner Frühwerke – in einer weicheren pastelligen Farbigkeit. Hier ist der Blick über den Kanal in bläulich-hellem Licht gezeigt.
