- Markus Lüpertz is one of the most important artists of the German post-war period. - The drawing should be viewed in context of the color lithograph “Deutsches Motiv” (German Motif) from 1972 (Hofmaier 158). - The artist's early works from the 1970s and 1980s are the most sought-after paintings on the international auction market.
