Edward Weston (American, 1886-1958) Nude, 1936 Gelatin silver print, printed later by Kim Weston 9-1/2 x 7-1/2 inches (24.1 x 19.1 cm) (image) 18 x 15 inches (mount) Signed, and titled by Kim Weston in pencil, mount verso. Kim Weston is the grandson of Edward Weston and the son of Cole Weston, and the nephew of Brett Weston, having West Coast photographic DNA running in all their veins, with a healthy touch of Dektol. To all of us photographers who were weaned on The Daybooks of Edward Weston, this is a seminal image in the oeuvre of this 20th-century master of the medium. This photograph was taken in 1936, and in the Daybooks, he expressed regret about the shadow on Charis' right arm, feeling it disrupted the symmetry of her body. It has nevertheless become one of his iconic works. HID12401132022 © 2025 Heritage Auctions | All Rights Reserved www.HA.com/TexasAuctioneerLicenseNotice
