Lot Details
Manuel Alvarez Bravo (Mexican, 1902-2002) Fruta Prohibida (Forbidden Fruit), 1976 Platinum palladium print 7-1/4 x 9-5/8 inches (18.4 x 24.6 cm) (image) 9 x 10-3/4 inches (sheet) Signed and inscribed 'México' in pencil, lower margin recto. PROVENANCE: The artist; Abe Frajndlich, acquired from the above, circa 1988. When I was photographing the Master Photographers for LIFE in 1988, I was sent to Mexico City to do a portrait of the great Latin American photographer, Manuel Alvarez Bravo. My assistant and I spent more than a day with him, in his home and his garden making portraits. Among the stories that he shared with us, was that every Tuesday, a model would come to his place to be photographed nude. I offered to buy this image from him while we were there, and he graciously offered it to me at a "professional" price for a colleague. It's one of his more memorable images, and this is a gorgeous print of it. HID12401132022 © 2024 Heritage Auctions | All Rights Reserved www.HA.com/TexasAuctioneerLicenseNotice
The artist; Abe Frajndlich, acquired from the above.
In excellent condition with no visible defects. Printed on a cream colored paper. Not matted or framed.
