Garry Winogrand (American, 1928-1984) Central Park, 1961 Gelatin silver print 9-5/8 x 12-7/8 inches (24.4 x 32.7 cm) (image) 11 x 14 inches (sheet) Signed in pencil, verso. PROVENANCE: The artist; Abe Frajndlich, acquired from the above, circa 1979. Garry Winogrand came to lecture in Cleveland in November 1979, and I took some photographs of him which later appeared in my book on photographers, Penelope's Hungry Eyes. After the presentation, I spoke to him and expressed an interest in acquiring this photograph from his book, Women Are Beautiful, which appeared in 1975, and he gave me a number that I could afford. Overall excellent condition. Some undulations to the side edges of the sheet in the margins. Bumps to the corners, not framed. Sheet is loose, not framed.
