A Russian En Plein and Cloisonné Enameled Gilt Silver Stamp Box Feodor Rückert, Moscow, 1899-1908 1-3/4 x 2-3/8 x 1-3/4 inches (4.4 x 6.0 x 4.4 cm) 154 grams PROVENANCE: An important California private collection; John Atzbach Antiques, Bellevue, Washington, acquired from the above; Acquired from the above by the present owner. Rückert produced stamp boxes of bombé form with realistically reproduced Russian imperial stamps rendered in en plein enamel as part of his regular stock-in-trade, indicating that they were extremely popular. His workshop frequently produced beautifully enameled desk sets which featured these stamp boxes, and similar examples were sold Sotheby's New York, December 15, 1989, lot 345; Sotheby's New York, April 26, 2006, lot 272; Christie's New York, April 12, 2011, Lot 211.
