Luis Jiménez (American, 1940-2006) Texas Waltz, 1985 Lithograph in colors on paper 48 x 31-1/2 inches (121.9 x 80.0 cm) (sheet) Ed. 19/50 Signed, numbered, and dated in pencil along lower edge Printed by Landfall Press Luis Jiménez was a groundbreaking Mexican American artist from El Paso, Texas, whose dynamic work captures the vibrancy of Southwestern culture and the Mexican American experience. Known for both his monumental sculptures and expressive drawings, Jiménez explored themes of immigration, cultural resilience, and the untold histories of the Southwest with bold color and fluid lines. Early influences, from his father's sign shop to the murals of Diego Rivera and José Clemente Orozco, shaped his distinct style. Though he died tragically in a studio accident in 2006, his legacy endures, with his drawings and sculptures continuing to inspire and resonate across generations.
