David Salle (b. 1952) Untitled (Nude), 1987 Watercolor and pencil on paper 21 x 29-1/2 inches (53.3 x 74.9 cm) (sheet) Signed and dated lower right: David Salle 1987 PROVENANCE: Mary Boone Gallery, New York; Christie's, New York, September 15, 2004, lot 92; Private collection, New Jersey. David Salle's drawings from 1987 represent a pivotal moment in his career and are important for their layered exploration of visual and cultural themes, blending figuration and abstraction to create a complex, postmodern visual language. The drawings he created in 1987 reflect his unique ability to convey meaning through fragmentation and layered imagery, characteristics that define his broader body of work and establish his influence on contemporary art.
