Felipe Jácome X Svitlana Onipko Svitlana 1, 2022 UV print on bullet shell casings and epoxy resin 36 x 24 inches (91.4 x 61.0 cm) Unbroken Ukraine Project is the result of an artistic collaboration between Svitlana Onipko (photographer and dancer of the Ukrainian National Ballet) and Felipe Jacome (photographer and artist). They met 2 years before the war during a photoshoot in Kyiv and connected over their love for photography. The images of Ukrainian ballerinas displaced by the war are transferred onto panels of bullet casings using a UV printer. The strength, determination, and beauty of the dancers is juxtaposed with the senseless violence, brutality, and destruction inflicted by the bullets. The Unbroken Ukraine Project has been exhibited in 8 different outdoor installations in cities in Europe and the United States including: Paris, Madrid, Amsterdam, Rotterdam, Kyiv, New York, Orlando, and Berlin. This work is included in Art For Good, a dedicated session within the auction where a portion of the proceeds from each sale supports a worthy charity. Thirty percent (30%) of the net proceeds from this piece will go to RFK Human Rights. Ecuadorian photographer Felipe Jácome focuses on human rights and mobility. A graduate of the London School of Economics, Jácome has been featured in publications like National Geographic and The Washington Post, and has exhibited his work globally. In 2019, he received the World Press Photo’s 6x6 Global Talent Award for South America. HID12401132022 © 2024 Heritage Auctions | All Rights Reserved
