Lot Details
Signed and editioned 4/10 in ink in the image.
Bunny Yeager (American, 1929-2014) Self Portrait in Black and White Dress of Her Design Gelatin silver print, printed later 18-1/2 x 15 inches (47.0 x 38.1 cm) (sight) Signed and editioned 4/10 in ink in the image. From the collection of Grapefruit Moon Gallery Literature: P. Mason, Bunny Yeager's Darkroom: Pinup Photography's Golden Era, New York, 39. Designing and sewing clothes for herself and her models was one of Bunny Yeager's many expressions of her own creativity and tendency to want to control all elements of the creation of her images. This boldly patterned gown is one of many examples of this skill at work, and this editorial styled fashion image shows the range of her talent outside of pin-up photography. This attention to detail was part of what led to the re-evaluation of Yeager's work towards the end of her life. In her final years Bunny Yeager found the critical acclaim that had overlooked her for much of her career, with celebrated exhibitions at galleries in Florida and beyond, and a museum exhibition at the Warhol Museum in Pittsburgh, PA. For these, Yeager reapproached her earlier work as works of fine art, creating museum quality exhibition sized prints such as the one seen here.
