Lot Details
George Nelson (American, 1908-1986) Full Size Headboard, Model 4647 from the Primavera Collection, circa 1950, Herman Miller Walnut, tufted vinyl, ebonized feet 40 x 56-1/4 x 12 inches (101.6 x 142.9 x 30.5 cm) HID12401132022 © 2022 Heritage Auctions | All Rights Reserved
Headboard for a double (full) size bed with storage and adjustable backrests by George Nelson. Tufted vinyl doors that slide down to reveal individual storage compartments. Walnut veneer in excellent condition with one small (.75") stable bubble beneath the surface at top (no splitting or discoloration present). Bed retains both brackets and anchor pins to secure to a standard contemporary metal bed frame. Please note that padded panels do not self-support in reclining position but are designed to rest atop a mattress, and have been photographed to demonstrate as such. Discoloration to vinyl is below surface of material and not a topical accretion. Piece presents very well and is an excellent and stable example of Nelson's design ethos.
