Early success at the Skulptur Projekte Münster
Stephan Balkenhol - primarily known for his expressive wooden sculptures - has been associated with Kasper König for many years. Right at the beginning of Balkenhol's career in 1987, Kasper König exhibited the artist's almost two-metre-high concrete sculpture " Mann mit grauem Hemd und weißer Hose" ("Man with a grey shirt and white trousers") as part of the important Skulptur Projekte Münster exhibition series. König, who discovered and appreciated Balkenhol early on in his artistic career, honored Balkenhol the following year with a solo exhibition at Portikus in Frankfurt am Main.

Design of a poster
This work is a very personal piece that Balkenhol created especially for the exhibition at Portikus. The fact that this work was initially used as a motif for the exhibition poster and subsequently became part of König's private collection testifies both to the quality of the work and to König's personal appreciation of it
