Employing an immediately recognizable palette that defined an entire era, this absolute knockout is one of the finest to ever appear at auction. The current owner purchased this artwork at New York City's Dyansen Gallery in the 1983 exhibition and it has resided in the same collection for decades. The canvas depicts Tracy Vaccaro, October 1983 Playmate of the Month in an iconic polka dot dress. Nagel's canvases are extremely rare, and represent the artist's most realized expressions of his own vision, thus the most desirable examples of his art for collectors, and they often were created to expand upon ideas he had worked out on board for commercial assignments. This present work became a popular calendar piece, and the board variant of this image was originally published in the December 1983 issue of Playboy.
