Etching and aquatint in colors. Signed and numbered. From an edition of 200 copies. On Arches wove paper (with the watermark). 42 x 55.5 cm. Sheet: 56,7 x 74,3 cm.
After the painting of same name from 1926. [MH].
- Colorful print based on the painting of the same name by Henri Matisse. - The color aquatint demonstrates Matisse's extraordinary ability to transfer painterly areas of color to a print medium. - The odalisque is depicted in a sensual yet formalized manner - a paradigmatic example of the modern approach to the nude. - Most recently, the Fondation Beyeler, Riehen/Basel, honored the artist with the exhibition “Matisse - Invitation to Travel” (September 22, 2024-January 26, 2025).
