Silkscreen in colors with Rayon satin in the color areas. Signed and numbered. With the copyright stamp on the reverse. One of 36 artist copies outside the edition of 150 copies. On Lenox Museum cardboard. 101.5 x 81.5 cm. , nearly the full sheet.
Printed by Rupert Jasen Smith, New York (with the blind stamp). Published by Editions Schellmann & Klüser, Munich/New York (with the copyright stamp on the reverse). [KA].
- Two masters meet: Warhol immortalizes Beuys, creating a testament to his own artistic identity. - In 1979, a year before the portrait was made, Beuys visited New York and the Factory for his exhibition at the Guggenheim Museum. - Special surface treatment with Rayon satin finish. - Acquired directly from the artist shortly after its creation and in the same collection ever since. - Warhol's Beuys portraits are in renowned museum collections, including the Museum of Modern Art, New York, the Tate, London, and the Philadelphia Museum of Art.
