Lot Details
Oil on cardboard. Signed in the lower right. 40.6 x 67.2 cm. . [AW].
- Olga Wisinger-Florian was one of the most successful painters in Vienna at the turn of the century. - Her impasto and dynamic application of paint in subtly balanced yet strong colors is reminiscent of French Impressionism. - Wisinger-Florian began to show her work in exhibitions in the 1880s and gained international recognition through her participation in the 1893 Expo in Chicago, as well as in the annual exhibitions at the Vienna Künstlerhaus and the Munich Glaspalast. - Owned by the same family for over 100 years, this work is now offered on the international auction market for the first time (source: artprice.com).
Private collection, South Germany (famuily-owned for more than 100 years)
In good condition, colors in fine impression. The outer edges of the image are slightly rubbed and slightly bumped, with isolated tiny losses on the cardboard backing. Isolated small areas of soiling. A few small retouchings in the center of the image. The condition report was compiled in daylight and with the help of a UV light source to the best of our knowledge and belief.
