Lot Details
Oil on canvas. Signed, dated, titled, numbered “#10” and inscribed with the dimensions on the folded canvas. 153 x 153 cm. . [AW].

• Expressive example of the increased color and color space synthesis in Stamos' work.
• A first stay on the Greek island of Lefkada in 1970, after the suicide of his close friend Mark Rothko, left a deep impression on the artist.
• The 'Infinity Field Series' should be understood as a reflection of landscape, nature, the sea, and Greek mythology.
• Stamos is an important representative of Abstract Expressionism; he had his first solo exhibition at the Betty Parsons Gallery in New York as early as 1942.
From a German corporate collection
In good condition. The upper edge of the picture and the lower left and upper right corners are slightly scuffed. There is minimal craquelure along the outer left edge of the picture. There are three small stains in the dark blue area of the picture, mainly in the lower right area, probably from the printing process. There is a small retouched spot in the upper left corner of the picture. The condition report was compiled in daylight, using an ultraviolet light source to the best of our knowledge and belief.
