Colored chalk. With the estate stamp of the Kunstmuseum Basel (Lugt 1570 b) and the handwritten registration number “FS Da/Aa 64” on the reverse. On smooth wove paper. 50.1 x 36.1 cm. , the full sheet. [CH].

• After Kirchner arrived in Switzerland, local life and the impressive natural backdrop inspired him.
• In this work, the artist depicts the mountains around him in an abstract, reduced form.
• The paintings “Bergwaldbäume” (Gordon 530), “Büdner Landschaft” (Kunsthaus Zürich, Gordon 832), and “Berg-Vorfrühling mit Lärchen” (Gordon 719, private collection), which are closely related in terms of motif, were also created during this period.).
The present work is documented in the Ernst Ludwig Kirchner Archive, Wichtrach/Bern.

Small crease mark in the lower left corner of the sheet. Verso of the upper corners of the sheet with semicircular residues from a previous mounting, minimally visible on the recto.
